Spirit of Shin

Author's Note

I never enjoyed horror movies, but my wife always loved them. When my daughter started taking an interest in ghost stories and cartoons at a young age, I knew where that came from.

For a large part of my professional life, I figured I had too much stimulation and stress from my work. I didn't need yet another thing to make me jumpy. Then I started to think about all the people who enjoy scary stories and why I do not. Some people enjoy the thrill of it and the residual excitement afterwards. It made them more resilient in a way.

I thought perhaps there is a good raison d'etre for scary stories. In a way it's like training to face fears, in fact enjoying doing so. It just seemed natural to write a scary story about facing your fears, and that's something you need no matter how young or however old you are.
